The Pezcoller Foundation –
EACR Translational Cancer Researcher Award

Since 2012, the Pezcoller Foundation and the European Association for Cancer Research have collaborated in the organization of the biennial Pezcoller Foundation – EACR Cancer Researcher Award.

From 2020, the Award has been renamed the Pezcoller Foundation – EACR Translational Cancer Researcher Award, and was made annually from 2021 onwards. It celebrates academic excellence and achievements in fundamental cancer research that have the potential for future clinic development.

THE WINNER

• will receive a €10,000 honorarium from the Pezcoller Foundation
• will give the prestigious Pezcoller Foundation – EACR Translational Cancer Researcher Award Lecture at the EACR Congress (free registration, accommodation and travel costs covered by the EACR).
• will be invited to give a lecture in Trento, Italy, in Autumn, at a date to be agreed

The nominee should have demonstrated academic excellence and achievements in the field of translational cancer research, which we define as a fundamental research discovery that has the potential for future clinical development for the benefit of cancer patients. Nominees may be working on research which has achieved proven clinical applications, or which has not yet done so but shows significant promise in this area.

Nominees must also meet the following criteria:

• Have no more than 15 years post-doctoral experience (or equivalent degree)
• Have spent at least the last five years working in Europe
• Presently be employed in a European institution

Self-nominations and nominations for EACR Board members cannot be accepted. An Evaluation Panel will be established to consider nominations, chaired by the current EACR President and consisting of two further representatives from each organization.
